Imran Khan as Supreme Court Declares PTI Eligible for Reserved Seats

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday declared Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) eligible for reserved assemblies seats, delivering the major set back to the Shehbaz Government.

The verdict was announced by a 13-member bench of the Supreme court, leading by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

Supreme Court’s Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Shahid Waheed, Muneeb Akhtar, Muhammad Ali Mazhar Ayesha Malik, Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi and Irfan Saadat Khan ruled and announces verdict in favour of the PTI.

The top court also nullified the Peshawar High Court’s and order to allot the reserved seats of minorities and women to PTI. Supreme in its verdict also said that the Election Commission of Pakistan ECP’s decision of allocating reserved seats to the ruling coalition was unconstitutional which will be reversed back.

The top court also accepted Sunni Ittehad Council’s petition and ruled that the party is eligible for the allocation of reserved seats. The apex court recognized PTI as political party and asked Imran Khan-led party to submit reserved seats candidates list to Election comission within 15 days.
