Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan on Wednesday announced conditional apology over the May 9 riots, saying that the CCTV footage of the violent protests should be made public.
Speaking to media representatives at Adiala Jail, PTI founder Imran Khan said that the footage will help identify the culprits, who he said should be brought to justice.

“If the culprits are found to be affiliated with the PTI, I will not only expel them from the party but also apologise,” he added.
Apparently referring to his arrest on May 9 last year, the PTI founder lamented that he was “dragged” by Rangers. “There is no respect for a popular person in Pakistan and globally,” he added.
“Don’t you feel obliged to apologise to me?” asked the PTI founder.
The PTI founder said that peaceful protest is their right while reiterating his demand that the CCTV footage be released to identify the true culprits.
Imran Khan said that if he was afraid of the May 9 incidents, he would not have demanded a judicial commission to probe into the riots.
The PTI founder also once again expressed willingness to hold talks with the army and said, “The army is a national institution, and its protection is everyone’s responsibility. We do not want chaos; I am ready to talk with the army for the sake of the country.”
Earlier while holding official presser, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry rejected reports of talks with the PTI leadership maintaining that there was no change in stance of the Pakistan Army on the May 09 violent protests.
“Army’s stance on [May 9] is clear, which was conveyed in the May 7 [2024] press conference. There has been no change in that nor there will be,” he said while briefing the media on the country’s security situation at Rawalpindi’s General Headquarters (GHQ).
