The issue has sparked chaos around the world, with flights grounded, trains cancelled and hospitals in disarray. Although the exact cause is not yet clear, the problems have been linked to a Microsoft Windows glitch and global cyber-security firm Crowdstrike.

Elon Musk Tweet

Elon Musk re-shared a post he made back in October 2021 that read simply: “Macrohard >> Microsoft.” His new post has racked up tens of thousands of likes already, with Musk’s fans clearly loving the sly dig.

Reacting in the comments section, one person wrote: “Please build something better!” Another fan said simply: “Elon was right.”

Another post saw Musk re-share a meme. It read “everything else is down, this app still works”, and showed Musk’s X as a man relaxing while Microsoft is in chaos. The Tesla CEO added a laughing-face emoji in response.

In its latest statement, Microsoft has blamed a “third-party” for the problems impacting systems across the globe. The tech giant said: “We’re aware of an issue affecting Windows devices due to an update from a third-party software platform. We anticipate a resolution is forthcoming.”
